Subscription & Purchase Terms
Clear Prices. Fair Renewals. Easy Cancellation.
1. Introduction
VALCORED News Network offers paid access to some of its journalism so that independent reporting can be sustained.
These Subscription & Purchase Terms explain what you receive when you subscribe to VNN or buy a single report, what you pay, how renewal and cancellation work, and what happens if something goes wrong.
Please read them before you pay. By subscribing or buying a report, you agree to these terms, together with VNN’s Website Terms & Conditions of Use and Privacy Policy.
Our guiding principle is:
You should know exactly what you are paying for, how much it costs, when you will be charged again and how to stop.
2. Who Provides the Service
VALCORED News Network is the publication operating the website and the paid services described in these terms.
- Operator
- Valcored News Network
- Website
- valcorednews.com
3. What You Can Buy
VNN offers two kinds of paid access:
- A subscription, paid monthly or yearly, which unlocks every story marked Subscriber story.
- A single report, paid once, which unlocks one story marked Premium report.
Stories that are not marked as paid remain free to read.
Some Premium reports are included in a subscription. Others, such as special reports, are sold separately and are not part of a subscription. The story page states which applies before you pay.
4. Prices
- Monthly subscription
- A$9.99 a month
- Yearly subscription
- A$99 a year (17% less than paying monthly)
- Single premium report
- A$2.99, unless a different price is shown on the story
Prices are shown in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST where GST applies.
The price shown before you pay is the total amount VNN charges. VNN does not add booking, card or service fees.
Your bank or card issuer may charge its own fees, for example for currency conversion. These are set by your bank, not by VNN.
The price of an individual Premium report may differ from the standard price. The price of each report is shown on the story before you pay.
5. Discounts and Promotional Codes
VNN may offer discounts or promotional codes from time to time.
Any conditions, such as how long a discount lasts and the price that applies afterwards, are shown at the time of the offer and on the secure payment page.
VNN does not currently offer free trials. If a free trial is offered in future, its length and the price that applies afterwards will be stated before you sign up.
6. Who Can Subscribe
You must be 18 or older to subscribe or buy a report, or have the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms.
The payment method you use must be your own, or you must be authorised to use it.
7. How Payment Works
Payments are processed on a secure payment page operated by VNN’s payment provider.
You enter your card or other payment details on that secure page. VNN never sees or stores your full card number.
When your payment is confirmed, your access is unlocked straight away and VNN emails you a confirmation.
Card payments to VNN show “VNN NEWS” on your bank or card statement.
8. Your Reader Account
When you subscribe or buy a report, a reader account is created for you automatically using the email address you give on the payment page.
You sign in with a one-time link sent to that email address. Each link works once and expires after 30 minutes. Reader accounts do not have passwords.
You can sign in on any device by requesting a new link from your account page.
Your account page shows your subscription, your next renewal date, the reports you have bought and the Manage billing, receipts and cancellation option.
9. Personal Use
Your subscription and any report you buy are for your own personal use.
Please do not share your sign-in links, forward paid stories in full or allow other people to use your account.
VNN may suspend or close an account that is used for systematic sharing, scraping, automated copying or resale of VNN journalism.
Republishing paid content is covered by VNN’s Copyright, Intellectual Property & Content Republishing Policy.
10. Automatic Renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
- A monthly subscription renews every month on the same date you first subscribed.
- A yearly subscription renews every year on the same date you first subscribed.
At each renewal, the payment method you used is charged the subscription price in effect at that time.
Your next renewal date is shown on your account page.
11. Cancelling Your Subscription
You can cancel at any time, without contacting anyone:
- Sign in and open your account page.
- Choose Manage billing, receipts and cancellation.
- Choose to cancel your subscription.
When you cancel, your subscription stops renewing. You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for. No further payments are taken.
You can also cancel by emailing customer service. Please write from the email address on your account.
12. Changing Between Monthly and Yearly
To change from a monthly to a yearly subscription, or the reverse, contact customer service.
Alternatively, cancel your current subscription and subscribe to the other plan once your current period ends.
13. Reports You Buy
A single report you buy is unlocked for your reader account for as long as VNN continues to publish it.
The report may be updated or corrected after you buy it, in line with VNN’s Corrections, Clarifications, Retractions & Right of Reply Policy.
Your purchased reports are listed on your account page.
14. Refunds
Because access to digital journalism is provided immediately, VNN does not provide refunds for:
- The unused part of a subscription period after you cancel.
- A report you have bought and been able to open.
- Change of mind after access has been provided.
VNN will refund you if:
- You were charged more than once for the same thing.
- You were charged after you had cancelled.
- A payment was made without your authorisation.
- VNN removes a report you bought within 30 days of your purchase.
- A technical fault on VNN’s side prevents you from accessing what you paid for, and it cannot be fixed within a reasonable time.
To request a refund, contact customer service within 30 days of the charge, including the email address on your account and the date of the charge.
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Your bank may take several business days to process them.
15. Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Where VNN fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy, including a refund in appropriate cases.
16. Failed Payments
If a renewal payment does not go through, VNN emails you and asks you to update your payment details through your account page.
The payment is tried again automatically over the following days. Your access continues for a short grace period while this happens.
If a later attempt succeeds, your access continues as normal. If the payment still cannot be collected, your access stops and your subscription ends. You can subscribe again at any time.
17. Price Changes
VNN may change subscription prices.
If the price of your subscription is going to change, VNN will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies. The new price applies from your next renewal after that notice.
If you do not want to pay the new price, you can cancel before your next renewal.
Price changes do not affect a report you have already bought.
18. What a Subscription Does Not Include
A subscription does not:
- Give subscribers any influence over VNN’s editorial decisions or coverage.
- Guarantee a particular number of stories, topics or publication times.
- Include reports sold separately, unless the story page says they are included.
- Remove advertising. Subscribers see the same advertising as other readers.
VNN’s journalism remains independent of subscribers in the same way it is independent of advertisers, as explained in VNN’s Editorial Independence & Conflict of Interest Policy.
19. Changes to Paid Content
VNN may update, correct, move or remove stories, including paid stories, for editorial, legal or safety reasons.
Where a report you bought is removed within 30 days of your purchase, VNN will refund it under section 14.
20. Service Availability
VNN aims to keep its website and paid services available at all times, but access may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, technical faults or reasons outside VNN’s control.
Where an interruption significantly prevents access to what you have paid for, contact customer service.
21. If VNN Ends Your Access
VNN may suspend or close a reader account that breaches these terms or the Website Terms & Conditions of Use, for example through account sharing for resale or fraudulent payments.
Where reasonably possible, VNN will explain why and give you a chance to respond.
22. If VNN Stops Offering Subscriptions
If VNN stops offering subscriptions, it will give subscribers reasonable notice by email.
VNN will refund the unused part of any period you have already paid for.
23. Your Personal Information
To provide paid access, VNN keeps your email address, your name if you give it, a customer reference from the payment provider, your subscription status and renewal date, and the reports you have bought.
Your payment details are handled by the payment provider on its secure page. VNN does not receive or store your full card number.
VNN sends account emails, such as sign-in links, payment confirmations and failed-payment notices, as part of the service. These are not marketing emails and are sent even if you have not subscribed to a newsletter.
More information is in VNN’s Privacy Policy.
24. Complaints About Payments or Access
If something has gone wrong with a payment, a renewal or your access, please contact customer service first.
Please include the email address on your account, the date of any charge and a short description of the problem.
VNN aims to respond within a reasonable time.
Complaints about VNN’s journalism are handled separately under VNN’s Editorial Complaints & Dispute Resolution Policy.
25. Changes to These Terms
VNN may update these terms from time to time.
If a change materially affects existing subscribers, VNN will email them before it takes effect. If you do not agree with the change, you can cancel before it applies.
The current version is always available on this page.
